SOUNDS LIKE A BORING MOVIE?
That is understandable, given all the harrowing post-apocalyptic dystopian movies that seem to be so popular today..
But over 100 international film festivals seem to differ, as of today(May 19 2024), that is the number of awards/selections the short film ‘Waking Up in Paradise’ has received so far. This short film is based on scene 62 from the completed original screenplay of 120 pages registered in the U.S. COPYRIGHT OFFICE(2021).

Waking Up describes a world where planet earth is saved and thriving and where Humanity is living in peace and harmony with nature and each other. The Movie seeks to give hope and inspiration to humanity. Instead of serving the typical post-apocalyptic dystopian scenario where humanity is more or less doomed, Waking Up presents a world more of a utopian paradise-like nature. A world we can get to if we only collaborate on this planet, and utilise technology to the best for everyone. The story is told through a contemporary man waking up in this world where he encounters many obstacles on his way to integration and a new life he never thought was possible…
A DREAM
Harald Neslein Sandø is the founder and creator of the project. It started as a dream about a new and better world in the late seventies, when Harald was in his early teens. He dreamt about a better world for Humanity, where everyone could thrive and prosper on a healthy planet. In 2008 he discovered The Venus Project that had designed a world with a system very close to what Harald had imagined. Son of a Norwegian actor and director, Harald had started working with film a few years earlier. The idea for Waking Up started to bloom even more when Harald met Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows from The Venus Project in Stockholm in 2010. He had just moved to Sweden and wanting to help them realise an idea about a movie they had had themselves for many years to present their ideas. Since they had no concrete idea for their movie, and did not want his help, Harald ended up developing Waking Up himself, inviting in others from the online communities of The Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement to brainstorm ideas. The story as it is today took shape over several years, and now the screenplay is in its fourth draft, ready to be developed into a final shooting draft and a full movie. The project has been partly open source from the start with Harald Neslein Sando as the copyright holder the whole time.
Might our world be ready for a sci-fi about a positive future?
Have we had enough horrible and harrowing future scenarios on our screens?
Time for something more positive, uplifting and optimistic..?
