The story of Waking Up(and me)so far

I just felt like sharing how the idea and concept of the Waking up Movie came to me and why nothing has happened in 5 years.

I see here in the blog the last post before this one is from 22 feb 2015. The reason 5 years has passed by is that I got a massive stroke in July that same year and got paralysed in my left side. The year after my wife left me and there was 2 years of hard negotiations about money(sic). I don’t want to go into details. But to keep it short, there was a settlement in 2018, my apartment was sold, I am debt free now and I have been trying to work my way back to life for the past 2 years. I am far from fully rehabilitated and write this with one hand as my left hand is still pretty much useless. I get stiff in my right arm and hand from doing this. But I haven’t given up this movie so I choose to endure some pain. Just before my stroke I had finished the second draft of the manuscript. Since then I have written down several pages of new ideas that are still not incorporated into the script, but will be in time. I still hope that I will be able to get my left hand going again so that I can write with both hands as I did before. I have gotten some positive prognosis from some specialists, so I think there’s some hope with continuous focused training and therapy. But it will take time. So. How did Waking Up get born? I think it started when I was quite young, in my early teens. I had a keen interest for science fiction and read books like 1984 and the Time Machine and started watching all kinds of sci-fi movies. What puzzled me though, was that all the stories were set in a dystopian future of some sort. Aworld of doom and gloom. And I couldn’t understand why no one could imagine some kind of POSITIVE future for humanity. At about the same time I started to wonder about money and where they came from.We wasn’t rich but we had a quite large house and my mum rented out a couple of rooms to get some additional income. I realised that we didn’t really have to work for those money, and was happy that we could get them, but at the same time I felt a bit sorry for the tenants that had to work for the money that they used to pay the rent to us. I wished everyone could could get easy money like this, but realised that everyone could not own houses they could rent out, for if they did there would not be anyone to rent them. And the money system I still didn’t understand. Where did it come from, and where did it go? I won’t go into all of that now, but I can say that I have learned a lot since then and now I know how it all is connected. In those early days I started to imagine a world where everyone could live good lives, not only those wth property. I couldn’t really see it very clearly in my head, but the idea swirled around up there for years and years, until I in 2008, discovered The Venus Project, and hey! This world looked a lot like what I had imagined for all those years! I had just started to venture into film and video production and started to think about how one could present this world to the public through a movie, thus, Waking Up movie was born. I tried to present the idea to TVP as they also wanted to make a movie,But they didn’t want to use me, but rather a Hollywood scriptwriter. But I didn’t give up. Instead I started writing myself, and made the script open source so that the public could participate in the development as well. And this is where we stand today. There’s a whole script of 120 pages in the 2. draft stage available. You can collaborate to it if you like by going here. In future posts I will describe what will be the way forward.
